"It was so nice returning to the hotel at the end of each day, knowing we were coming back to an extremely clean and orderly sanctuary. It was very convenient to the metro (right around the block) and the staff was always welcoming. We also had the best food and wine at neighbouring trattorias and pizzerias. "I was very happy with my accommodations at the hotel. The single room was spacious and had a roomy closet. The bathroom was very nice with a good hair dryer and shower. The free internet access is a great plus not found in most hotels. The location of the hotel is better than I had expected-close enough to public transport but far away enough from the noisy, seedy area of the Termini. The staff is very friendly and helpful." "We were very happy we had chosen to stay at Hotel Des Artistes. Everything was done very well, from the web site to the generous breakfasts, and we felt like we were in Rome, with the convenience of an English-speaking staff. We took one of the tours, scheduled for us by the staff, and were picked up and dropped off near the hotel. Wonderful restaurants were just down the street. "We found this hotel to be conveniently located, close to the Termini, and beautifully decorated. The fridge in the room, and the nice little bed they included for our 13-month-old son, made travelling with him a pleasure. Booking was quick and easy and any correspondence was very pleasant. "My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Des Artistes in May 2003. The hotel location was superb. Even though it was 5 blocks away from the Termini Station, it was only 1 block away from the Castro Pretorio Metro B stop. If you're planning on staying in Rome for a week or so, get the weekly metro pass (which also works on most public buses). The hotel is situated in a quaint neighbourhood. There were wonderful restaurants and bistros to enjoy a leisurely meal, or some pizzerias and patisseries for a quick bite on the go. The best feature of this charming hotel is its roof top terrace. When we were there, the flowers were in full bloom, and the temperature was a comfortable 25 degrees C. (77 degrees F.) We'd often go to the store to pick up a bottle of wine and some cheese. We'd go upstairs to the terrace, and enjoy a nice relaxing evening with the other guests." 14 May 2003

"Hotel Des Artistes is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The booking service is quick, and friendly; hotel staff are very helpful; the rooms are clean and comfortable; and there's a great roof garden. Added to this, the hotel is conveniently situated for getting about Rome. The only drawback of the hotel is that because of its basic architecture, it's not very suitable for disabled people with mobility difficulties." Alan Lovell U.K., 17 April 2003

"Don't be deceived by the small street, or the lack of a fancy front, this hotel is great! The rooms were large, and well maintained. We had two adults and one young teen in our room, no problem. The bathrooms were super clean (no mildew) and modern. The breakfast (included) offered a good variety of fresh food, and plenty of it. If weather permits, have breakfast on the roof-top terrace! Even had free internet access during the afternoon and evening. The staff all spoke English, helped with transportation (had taxis at the door for us within minutes of our requests), and recommended a couple of great little restaurants near the hotel (with discounts). The Metro is less that a one minute walk from the front door, and the neighbourhood was safe! Great value for the money. Staying at the Des Artistes made our week in Rome all the more enjoyable. "The hotel is very comfortable and the staff are very friendly. The location is excellent for any visitor to Rome as it is only a short walk from the main subway, bus and train station. Despite the central location, it is on a lovely quiet street so we had a very peaceful holiday. It was very good value for money. We had friends staying in the annex, but I would have to say I felt it is worth that bit extra money to stay in the main hotel. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel." The elevator is somewhat cramped and the reception on the 5th floor is a little inconvenient when checking in, but we were extremely pleased with the hotel and had a great experience there.
