Rome-Italy Samsung Diamond League is scheduled to be contested on the 31st  of May 2012 after Qatar and China competitions of the same month.

Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell have both confirmed they will run on the fore mentioned date in Rome. Sensational! Last year’s spectators were mounting 47.732. Not only numbers but both have had a nice sprint and in the end Bolt overcame his co-national by only 0.02 sec. 9.91 to 9.93. The presence of such competitive sports women and men make events like this enjoyable. 

Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell are just a drop in the ocean, there are also other professional first class athletes, ideal to watch. And the Samsung Diamond League is a superb occasion.

The Samsung Diamond League is an annual series of track and field meetings held from 2010 onwards, beginning with the 2010 IAAF Diamond League. It is organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which was held annually since 1998.

While the Golden League was formed to increase the profile of the leading European athletics competitions, the Diamond League’s aim is to “enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics by going outside Europe for the first time.” In addition to the original Golden League members and other traditional European meetings, the series includes events in the United States, China and Qatar.

The winner of each of the 32 Diamond Races will receive a 40’000 USD cash prize and a spectacular Diamond Trophy created by Beyer, one of the oldest and most respected jewelers in the world, which was established in Zurich in the 18th century.

Negramaro is a group of six musicians, born at Lecce. After various exhibitions live they become a phenomenon of the alternative music scene. Their first album  is published at 2003 with the collaboration of sugar, but “00566” (2004) is the album that launch and confirm them in the mainstream music scene.

They also like to produce music for films and participate to various music competitions , wining various recognitions.

But they express better themselves when they act live, with various sold-outs all around Italy.

The 10^th of June 2011 they come back with a live at “Heineken jamming festival” with thousands of participations.

“Casa 69”, their fifth work, takes the title from their natural place of stay, where they live everyday and from where they get inspired.

So now here they are for another live tour around Italy, their first date is on 30^th of April at Genova, then to   Rome, Caserta , Livorno and other cities in Italy.

On Saturday, April 7th the football teams in Italy will play the 31° day of the Italian Championship, called “Serie A”.

They all will play on Saturday ( very unusual ) as the following day is Easter.

In Rome there will be an outstanding match between S.S. Lazio and S.S.C. Napoli. Both teams are trying to obtain the third place in the Championship as it guarantees the qualification for the Champions League next year.

Last year they played in Naples on November 20, but no-one won, they drew 0-0, even if the “ partenopei ” , as the Napoli players are nicknamed, they played much better than Lazio but Lazio’s goalkeeper “Marchetti” played one of his best matches and Lazio could go back home with a positive result.

In April, for the 12° day of the second round of the Championship the match will be played in Rome at the “ Stadio Olimpico” at 9.00 pm.

The racecourse passes all major tourist attractions in Rome, namely the Coloseum, Roman Forum, Mouth of Truth, Circo Massimo, Piramide,  St Paul Basilica, Tiberina island, Navona Square, Castle St Angel,  St Peter Basilica, Campidoglio, music auditorium and many others. Perfect for a fun and sight-filled run through Rome.

International, national and continental competitors are flocking from all corners of the earth to Rome for the 18^th marathon edition. Cristal clear, no one can foretell who will be the winner, but like all other major-long-distance-competitions this also might be dominated by East African champs. Nevertheless Brazilian fans, as in any World Cup competition- won’t be satisfied with runner up, the same is true with any elite runner, i.e. the thirst to win internationally sealed marathon race, on the hill tops of thousand-years-history of athletic tournaments.

Notre Dame de Paris, the now historic musical produced by David Zard and music by Riccardo Cocciante, also arrives in Italy for a tour celebrating the 10th anniversary. The italian debut is set to take place in Rome on March 14 until April 1 ” Grand Theatre Notre Dame “, a structure of 2900 seats that was built in record time in an area near the Stadio Olimpico.

The production is a huge success that is renewed from 1998, the year of its French debut, that had more than 15 million viewers around the world, of which only 2 million and a half were in Italy, where it toured 38 different cities in 842 performances .

When the production went on stage for the first time in our country, in the original French version, on 21 March 2001 at the Forum of Assago, Notre Dame de Paris had already been seen and acclaimed in France by 3 million viewers. It was then translated into four languages, became also famous in Russia, Barcelona in the Spanish version and in London in the English version. But no one could imagine that the Italian version would have been a huge success!

Notre Dame de Parisis tells the story of Quasimodo, the hunchbacked bellringer of Notre-Dame and his love both impossible and tragic for Esmeralda, a beautiful gypsy. Quasimodo who was forced by his ugliness to see the world from a tower, falls hopelessly in love one day to Esmeralda, when she saw her dancing and singing on the square outside the cathedral. But Esmeralda was in love with Phoebus, the handsome captain of the guards of the King. Also Frollo, the archdeacon of the cathedral, was secretly attracted to the gypsy, and when he saw the two lovers together, in a fit of jealousy stabbed Phoebus in the back.

Esmeralda is arrested with the accuse of attempting to kill the captain of the guards and thrown into prison. Frollo takes advantage of the situation giving the freedom to the women in exchange for her body. Esmeralda refuses the offer. Quasimodo frees Esmeralda and hides her into the tower.

But a friend of Esmeralda, Clopin, and his protector misunderstand the intentions of Quasimodo, and attack the cathedral, placing himself at the head of a revolt to free the beautiful gypsy.

In an attempt to crush the revolt Phoebus and his men set fire to the cathedral and kill Clopin. The poor Quasimodo believing that Phoebus wants to free the woman, he gives her to Froolo which gives her to the guards. For Esmeralda is the end. Phoebus wants the death of the gypsy because only after her death he can marry his rich girlfriend.

Quasimodo after witnessing the hanging of his beloved realizing the betrayal of the Archdeacon, in a fit of anger, trows Frollo from the tower. Destroyed by the pain, the hunchback  leads the body of Esmeralda to a grave where he is going to stay until his own death.
