herbiehanwayneshorter11
Summer in Rome is a delight for lovers of good music. Brilliant performers of all types of music make sure to stop in the Eternal City while touring Europe from June to August. Enjoying a great concert followed by a fine meal during a Roman summer, when breeze finally starts to blow and people take the streets to simply enjoy life is an experience to be lived.

Rhapsodic tones apart, one of the concerts we are already looking forward is that of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. They are two of the greatest living legends of jazz but the best about them is not their historical importance (which cannot be overstated) but the quality of their playing. Just as the Roman evening described above, the interplay beetwen these two is one of those fine pleasures you just cannot deny yourself when given the chance.

The concert will take place July 26 2014 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica (which can be easily reached from Yes Hotel or Hotel Des Artistes) an 9:00 PM.

SKUNK ANANSIE IN ROME

Skunk Anansie are an English band, whose image is generally associated with the singer and band-leader Skin (Deborah Dyer), known among other things for his habit of wearing her hair completely shaved.

After the success of the summer tour, which saw them dominate the stage of the peninsula from north to south, the tireless SKUNK ANANSIE return to Italy-19 of march here in rome.

A brand new adventure for Skunk Anansie, yet another - in the nearly twenty years of career - the overwhelming challenge for rock band led by Skins, creator of this acoustic tour, started with an argument than the “confidence” that the singer has with the his voice: Many singers do not like my voice, and somehow I am also very insecure and I am afraid to expose my voice without being accompanied by a sound. I asked myself, ok I can sing loud, but I could do it equally singing plan? “

The Italian tour will therefore be a new step in this adventure Acoustic unusual for listeners, and also for the rock band “The perspective is different when sitting on the stage and you need to focus a lot on his own music. (….) meet again during the show in London made us realize how everything was so fresh and vital energy and enthusiasm impossible to forge. we are proud of every album we made, but this acoustic experience is really something special.

The name of the new club is 900 Lab and a good part of it is located in an outdoor space, a characterictic party-goers will appreciate when the Roman heat becomes more aggressive. Another peculiar feature of the club is its position, within the EUR neighbourhood, surrounded by imposing buidlings built during fascism:even if the memories they bring are not exactly happy, the scenery they create will be certaingly suggestive.

900 Lab is located an Piazza Gugliemo Marconi 32, Rome,  and can be reached with the B subway line (stations EUR Palasport/ EUR Fermi).

Supernatural Music: Carlos Santana in Rome

carlos_santana_concerto_a_roma_luglioProbably one of the least likely places to look for a guru of Rock and Roll is Autlan, a little Mexican town near the Pacific coast, but that’s where Carlos Santana was born.

Santana’s family moved from Autlan to Tijuana, near the border with the United States, and then to San Francisco. It was there where Carlos was going to amaze the world with his bold fusion of rock, African and latin rythms and oriental mysticism.

Carlos spent the 70′s and 80′s at the forefront of rock but the sales of his records slowed down and by the end of the 90′s he didn’t have a contract with any record label. His luck changed with Supernatural, an album studded with rock celebrities that marked Santanas’ comeback as a big name in rock.

Now as a part of his Sentient tour Santana will visit Rome next July 28. The concert will take place at the Foro Italico, that can be easily reached from Hotel Des Artistes (red subway line until Ottaviano, the bus 32).
